SEVEN ALUMNI ARE ACTIVE SUPERIOR COURT JUDGES
Holy Spirit Alumnus and NJ Superior Court Judge James Savio ’70, provided us this awesome photo of six judges of the Superior Court, all currently in office, and all graduates of Holy Spirit High School who were together recently.
We believe Holy Spirit likely has produced more NJ Superior Court Judges than any high school in Atlantic County!

CLASS of 1959
Paul Hartley'59. Paul joined the Marine Corp Reserve as a junior in high school and went to boot camp after graduation. He spent 6 years in the reserve. Paul volunteered and was sent to Vietnam in 1967 when the war was at it's peak. He survived with prayers & God's guidance after spending 13 harrowing months on the front line. In the 70's, Paul started a tile contractor business and retired in 2005. He is now living in Cape Canaveral, Fla. in peace. He is thankful for his parents and 12 years of Catholic Education.

CONGRATULATIONS - Thomas A. Mogan, Ph.D, Director of the Office of Student Development at Villanova University, has been appointed Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Ma. Mogan, a veteran student affairs practitioner with 19 years of experience in the field, will assume his new role in January. In his role, Mogan will oversee student conduct, emergency case management, student activity programming and outreach to students with disabilities.

Though living continents apart, Amy Savell Kennedy '97 and Paul Savini '97 remain good friends, and met back in their beloved HSHS to share some ideas for their 20th Class Reunion to be held this year. Amy currently resides in Brigantine with husband Patrick and their four children, while Paul and his wife Erica, also parents of four, make their home in Hong Kong. Welcome Home, Amy & Paul!

Sarah Neuner '09 is a Ph.D candidate conducting groundbreaking research in the role that genetic risk factors may hold for those with Alzheimers Disease at the Jackson Laboratory. Sarah and her research were recently profiled in a feature story by the Jackson Laboratory - you can read the full story here! Rebecca Hoffman Moore '10 received her Master of Science in Library Science from the Catholic University of America and is now a Documents Specialist, researching genealogical data for the DAR in Washington DC. The DAR Memorial Continental Hall where Becca works each day is one of Washington's most beautiful buildings. Rebecca received her BA in French from the Catholic University of America (CUA) in 2014. Great work, Becca!
Myra McCann '10 is currently a senior rower at St. Joseph's University and preparing to compete in the Miss New Jersey pageant next month has been mentoring a young woman to go after her dream! Brandon Collins '10 has been recognized by the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame as a Scholar Athlete. A computer science major, Collins posted a 4.0 Grade Point Average in his final season of eligibility. Collins recorded 22 tackles during the 2014 campaign while appearing in nine games. Ginamarie Shaffer '11 graduated SUMMA CUM LAUDE from The Catholic University of America earning the President's Award - the University's highest honor. Gina graduated PHI ETA SIGMA for excellent performance in first year. ALPHA KAPPA DELTA - Honors in Sociology. PHI BETA KAPPA - the Nations most prestigous honor society taking the top percentage of graduates from each school. Gina was a University Scholar in the Honors Program

Congratulations to Erin Russo '12 - Athletic Trainer at St. John Paul II High School in Tallahassee, Florida. Erin is teaching Health & Anatomy and is also the Coach for the Lady Panther's Varsity Softball Team. The team is having a winning season, and Erin is another winning coach in the Russo Family! Yep, you guessed it...Erin is the daughter of HSHS Varsity Football Coach, AJ Russo '81!

"Wow" to Cody Combs '12, senior physics major at TCNJ, who was named a winner of the Mayo Business Plan Competition along with his two student business partners in Solar Divide, LLC. The three created new technology - that they are keeping a tight lid on while working on patents - and a business plan that took home the biggest first-place prize pot in the competition's five-year history: $30,000! "Congratulations" to Abbey Werner '12 graduated from The Catholic University of America (CUA) on the steps of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - the very same place Pope Francis said Mass last fall. Abbey interned in the Office of the Historian of the House of Representatives, has researched in the National Archives and Library of Congress. Abbey is currently enrolled in The CUA Graduate School's Theater History and Critique Masters of Art Program training to become a Dramaturg.
"Way to go" Erika Bryz-Gornia '12 who graduated from Providence College on May 15, 2016 and will be living in Providence after graduation. Erika has landed a great position at the Providence radio station "CAT Country " working in event planning and marketing. Congrats, Erika!
Spartan Alum Abbey Werner '12 gave Julia Dalzell '16 and the Dalzell Family a tour of the Catholic University of America and the magnificent Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - the largest Roman Catholic church in the United States and North America - while visiting on campus. Julia and her family were doing college tours in Washington DC where Alum Steve Brown'14 also gave Julia and the Dalzell Family a tour of George Washington University! Love the Holy Spirit Family!

Congratulations to Erin Coffman '13 who will be graduating from Washington College this month with a BA in Theatre and a minor in History. Erin was recently accepted into a two week program with the American Theatre Wing called SpringboardNYC, where she will be taking classes in musical theatre from leading professionals in New York City. AND GET THIS....Erin will be attending a dress rehearsal for and participating in this year's Tony Awards as a seat filler! SO COOL! After the Tony's, Erin will be working as an assistant for the theatre camps at the Church Hill Theatre in Church Hill, Maryland. Erin told us , "I am lucky enough to have had all of these opportunities because of the education I received at Holy Spirit. Thank you so much."

Congratulations to Alumna RACHAEL KLAISS '13 who was just offered admission and a Teaching Assistantship in the PhD PHYSICS PROGRAM at the University of Oregon! Rachel will graduate this spring from University of California at Berkeley with a BA in Physics from the College of Letters & Science!
Allyson Donahue '13 was recently named to the 2016 All-American Team by the Intercollegiate Sailing Association. Ally is currently a rising senior at Boston College. Congratulations, SKIPPER Ally! Check it out!
Ricky Hopkins '13 is a student athlete at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA where he is finishing his Junior year. He is majoring in Economics. This past semester he earned a 3.75 GPA making the Dean’s List at Dickinson College. In addition to his studies, he is involved in Dickinson’s Emerging Leaders, Team Impact, Student Investment Group, and was recently selected to the Dickinson College Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Ricky is also the starting Catcher for the Dickinson College Red Devils who play in the Centennial Conference. He continues to show his leadership skills on and off the field. The past two summers Ricky was selected to play baseball in a Collegiate Baseball League in North Carolina for the Outerbanks Daredevils. In addition to summer baseball he spent many hours at various community events for D.A.R.E. Casa and speaking to children about the dangers of substance abuse. The Summer of 2016, Ricky will be heading to the “Big Apple” where he was hired as a Summer Intern for CBS Sports. Ricky has a bright future ahead of him as he is looking forward to continuing his education after graduation from Dickinson College and is excited about a career in Sports Management.
Lauren Turner '13 - Congratulations to Spartan Alum Lauren Turner '13 who has been rowing crew for the University of Tulsa and won 2nd place in the American Conference Championships. Lauren will be leaving for England to race at the Henley Regatta in June and was one of only 20 rowers from Tulsa selected to travel! All that while maintaining a 3.8 GPA this semester!

Kelly Gross '14 - Kelly was featured in Immaculata University's Alumni Magazine for her success in and out of the classroom as a Presidential Scholar. Kelly will graduate in '18 from Immaculate University and Thomas Jefferson with a degree in Exercise Science. She will continue on to Jefferson to pursue her doctoral degree in Physical Therapy in 2020! You can read the full article below!
Kylie Wittland '14 - Kylie Wittland graduated from Holy Spirit in 2014 to go on to Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. This semester, she is continuing her studies in Psychology in England at Queen Mary University of London. She plans to travel throughout Europe while she is there, with plans already made for Germany. Pictured below, Kylie and her fellow Spartans pose in front of Versailles during their trip to Paris her senior year at Holy Spirit.
Michelle Moffa '14, an engineering student at the Robertson Institute at Duke University is leading a student service trip to Kenya this May. The trip will begin with an immersion experience in the culture and language at L’angata, Kenya, then work at an elementary school helping with English classes or help out at the medical dispensary in Ruiri, Kenya. The trip will end with a visit to the Marian Shrine, Mary Mother of God in Subukias. To learn more about the work Michelle is doing, visit the Duke Catholic Center.
Mike Di IAnni '14, a student at Gwynedd Mercy University picked up a spot on the honor roll! Mike also threw a complete (baseball) game against previously unbeaten McDaniel College on Sunday, March 13th as the sophomore worked seven innings, allowing only two runs while striking out four in the Griffins' 13-2 victory over the Green Terror. Congratulations to Spirit Swimming Alum Eric Feuerstein '14 who is competing at the NCAA Division III National championships for Rowan University (March 2016). Eric was awarded ALL-AMERICAN HONORS for the 200 Freestyle Relay. He also is competing in the 400 and 800 freestyle Relays. Full story here!

New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season. Magnificent view rowing in the early morning hours on the Potomac, Steve and some teammates with the Archbishop of Washington DC, Cardinal Wuerl after the GW Catholic Students Welcome Mass, and the 2014-15 GW Men's Rowing Team! Way to go, Steve! What a great start to your college career!
Megan Gleason'14, current Temple University student, won The Dad Vail Regatta in a Temple Freshman boat in 6 minutes 47.089 seconds for the GOLD! What a great weekend!!! The Temple Freshman boat also won 2 other Gold Medals - The Murphy Cup and The Kerr Cup and a Silver for The Knecht Cup. Congratulations Megan!!
