The Russo Family is honored to announce the 2016 Nona Russo Pirate to Spartan Scholarship Fundraiser. This gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Vagabond Kitchen & Tap House, 572 N. Trenton Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. The scholarship fund was established in 2010 in memory and honor of our mother, Nona Russo. Since its inception we have been able to provide financial assistance to help offset tuition costs to twelve families of Pirate graduates who are attending Holy Spirit High School. Each of these students has received $500 for each year they have been enrolled as a student at Holy Spirit High School.
As you may already know, in addition to working as teacher for over 30 years at both Ventnor Middle School and at Holy Spirit High School, our mother, Nona Russo volunteered her time as a Pirate Pee Wee Cheerleading Coach for 10 years and coached the Holy Spirit High School Varsity Football Cheerleaders for close to 20 years. Our mother believed that all children should be provided with the opportunity to succeed regardless of their race, gender, religion, social, academic or economic situations. We hope that through the scholarship fund we can continue to help defer some of the tuition costs for Pirate participants who want to continue their education and path of success by attending Holy Spirit High School.
We hope that you will be able to attend this year’s event on May 14th and to not only join us for this worthy cause but to also sample the free buffet of fine food being offered by Vagabond Kitchen & Tap House.
