Holy Spirit Students Connect Writing Skills with Hollywood Insight
Students in Holy Spirit High School’s AP Language and Composition class took part in a unique writing project that challenged them to analyze film through critical thinking and evidence-based argumentation.
As part of the assignment, students selected well-known films, including Home Alone, and crafted persuasive essays supporting their interpretations. The project was elevated by a classroom visit from Scott Rosenfelt, a producer of Home Alone, who shared behind-the-scenes insights into the filmmaking process and the craft of storytelling.
Rosenfelt’s visit helped students see the real-world relevance of strong writing skills, connecting classroom learning to creativity, professional communication, and future career paths. Faculty noted that the experience reinforced the value of writing as a lifelong skill while giving students an engaging and memorable learning opportunity.
